There has been some sad news about hamsters and Covid recently, which caused some uneducated owners to start abandoning their hamsters over the pet store Covid fears.

It is unnecessary and irresponsible to abandon your hamsters due to pet store Covid fears as it has nothing to do with your own hamsters!

Hamsters are indoor pets and it’s almost impossible for them to transmit the virus as they never leave your house. Hamsters at home can only get infected by humans and there is no way for them to get infected first and spread the virus to you.

Please have some common sense if you are thinking about abandoning your hamsters. I have also given some tips on how to minimise the risk of infecting your hamster, and what to do if your hamster gets Covid.
