JSC recommends that President Ramaphosa appoint Mandisa Maya as SA's next chief justice

It is now up to President Cyril Ramaphosa to appoint the country’s Chief Justice. If Supreme Court of Appeal President Mandisa Maya were to be appointed to the position, she would also be the first female to occupy it.
Maya would also be able to serve a full term as Constitutional Court justice.
The Judicial Service Commission recommended her as the most suitable candidate for the top position in the Constitutional Court. The announcement came after deliberations by the JSC, following the conclusion of interviews with all four candidates.
