What are the chances of a recession in 2022?
Well if you are paying attention to headlines like "chances of a recession in 2022" or "recession imminent in 2022", "a recession is happening", "our economy is collapsing", "recession is coming", "this is worse than a recession". You might be worried. If you are old as dirt like me and a veteran in the financial industry you realize that financial pundits are always prediction recession and financial collapse every year…without fail. Usually led by Ray Dalio the perma-bear himself. "But, this time is different", you might say. Its always different. And, it may be that this time is different in a way that really matters. But, nobody…and I mean nobody knows if a recession is coming this year. In this video I go through the recent history of failed recession predictions by so called financial experts and economists who have predicted stark market collapse since there was a stock market. I also go through the numerous forward looking indicators that usually tell us that a recession is imminent and I go through the data that shows that at least from a data perspective we aren’t there yet. Things may change and the Fed is always willing to sacrifice the stock market and to engineer and economic slowdown in order to control inflation but we are not in any way seeing the two major factors that usually spur an economic recession and that is a collapse in demand and an overextension of credit.
