It is the final game of the 2021 season and the culmination of the 2021–22 NFL playoffs. The game is scheduled to be played on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It will be the eighth Super Bowl hosted by the Greater Los Angeles area, with the last one being Super Bowl XXVII in 1993, held at the Rose Bowl, and the first in the city of Inglewood. It will also be the first Super Bowl to take place on the second Sunday in February instead of the first, as it had been in the recent past, due to the regular season schedule being expanded from 16 to 17 games. The game will be televised nationally by NBC. For the AFC, it will feature either the Kansas City Chiefs or Cincinnati Bengals, depending on results in the AFC Championship Game. For the NFC, it will feature either the Los Angeles Rams or the San Francisco 49ers, depending on results in the NFC Championship Game.
